Southside Branch Library

The Dougherty County Library System branched out to an underserved area of Dougherty County with the Southside Library. Years later, the Southside Branch Library has stood the test of time.

Envisioned as a small library branch, the 6,112-square-foot Southside Library’s design features vaulted ceilings over the main browsing/reference area services area, children’s services and central book collection areas, providing spatial variety and visual interest. The white acoustical ceiling finish was enhanced by indirect up-lighting, resulting in even, shadow-free interior illumination.  Special focal accents in the project included an elevated planted shelf above the central control desk, interior brick accent walls and an architect custom-designed round stained glass window above the reference area.
